Tour de force is a survey exhibition spanning three decades of artist Greg Semu’s artistic and social practice. This exhibition features the raw, visceral and highly evocative imagery that has defined Semu’s career, revealing his relentless exploration of Polynesian and First Nations identity within the context of euro-centric art history.

Greg Semu is an internationally celebrated Bondi local who uses photography and moving image to reimagine and challenge historical narratives, offering a powerful commentary on cultural displacement and the romanticisation of colonial encounters. Through meticulously staged re-enactments and vivid visual storytelling, Semu invites viewers to rethink preconceived notions of history, making an immediate and lasting connection with his work.

Artist Talk: Saturday 21 September 2024, 2pm

Tour de force runs from August 31-22 September, 10am-5pm daily.

Audiences are advised that Tour de force contains artworks that some visitors may find disturbing. The exhibition contains recreated images of stylised violence including historical oppression.
