For anyone with an interest or passion for the performing arts - whether you're an actor, storyteller, dancer, musician, creator, maker, writer, troublemaker, clown or into production, we’ve got just the thing for you!

If you would like to learn how to devise shows and perform them, then we’d love to hear from you!

Participants will collaborate with professionals from Erth Visual & Physical Inc, one of Australia’s leading theatre companies (and a puppet or two), engaging in drama, storytelling, learning how to perform with hand-held and large-scale puppets and more, to create an original new performance at Bondi Pavilion.

You will experience the wonders of making theatre through the use of storytelling and puppetry and then create a site-specific performance, Locus, where the audience will travel with you on a journey around the Pav as you make the spaces come alive, challenging perceptions and inspiring audiences to view the world around them in a different light.

About Locus

Stumble upon a Sumatran Rhino, sidle up to a Thylacine and get a nuzzle from a Numbat in this extraordinary adventure from the acclaimed Erth Visual & Physical Inc. You will work with the team of professionals to bring audiences close-up to life-sized puppets of endangered creatures in the hidden spaces of the Bondi Pav.  Locus means place, and this performance is designed to help audiences reimagine our place in the world, taking them on a memorably, immersive and unforgettable adventure.

Suitable for Secondary School students and upper Primary School students

To participate you will need to apply and be available for all workshop, dress rehearsal and performance times.  There is a limit of 20 places.  No experience is necessary just a passion for creating, collaborating and performing!

About Erth

Erth is a company fuelled by beautiful accidents; a team of creators, makers and performers pushing the limits of design, content and experience.

For over thirty years Erth’s puppetry-based theatrical productions and innovative community projects have challenged and inspired audiences around the world, driven by a special interest in natural history, First Nations stories, sociology and urban mythology.

Today the company is recognised internationally as an innovator of physical and visual theatre, and a creator of brave, unbridled work for children.

In addition to touring the world with their long-running shows Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo and Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium, the company’s ongoing push to explore boundaries and devise new work has seen the commissioning of The Liminal Hour and Winter Camp at Barangaroo for Vivid Sydney 2018 and 2019. Erth have also explored the realm of virtual reality, and the development of ARC – an expansive, collaborative, multi-year, cross-platform work which explores preciousness and conservation.
