A photographic image featuring a deep blue ultramine ocean which seems to go on forever. It recedes deeply with faint images in the background. In the foreground a beautiful bottle is clear and close to the camera, it levitates as it sinks to the bottom.

You are invited to join us for the opening of One Minute Mountain - The metaphysics of disappearance, a new exhibition by celebrated local artist Phillip George.

One Minute Mountain presents a survey of recent works by Phillip. His recent works present the sea as a mirror that reflects and repeats our broken histories and images. In this body of work a submergence in water marks a shift in George’s practice from classical gaze to an exploration of fluid relational spatialises. Filmed and photographed between Bondi, Nazare, Greece, Alexandria, Persia and the extended archipelago trenches and oceans of the Middle East, One Minute Mountain uses water as a metaphor for the appearance and disappearance of culture and meaning.

One Minute Mountain runs from 21 March - 4 May, 2025.
