Join us at the screening of The Whale Song, a sensory and emotional journey that shows the deep connection between humans and marine life. Enjoy the fascinating parallel between the musical talents of world-renowned DJ Sam Feldt and the melodious humpback whale, narrated by renowned marine biologist Nan Hauser. Visually stunning cinematography, compelling storytelling and fusion of music and nature make this movie a standout piece in the world of short documentaries.

The movie screening will be followed by a Q&A session including marine expert Dr Robert Hardcourt and The Gamay Ranges.

Professor Rob Harcourt

Rob lectures in Marine Science and is an expert in marine biology, specialising in marine conservation, marine ecosystems, animal behaviour and ecology. He has authored/edited 3 books and over 320 scientific publications. He studies how marine animals respond to human impacts, such as alteration of oceanographic processes due to climate change, marine habitat degradation, shipping and fisheries interactions. His research has made valuable contributions to conservation of large marine vertebrates including sharks, seals, and whales through drafting species recovery plans for the Federal Government and providing expert comments to state and federal government, NGOs and the United Nations Environment Program.

Gamay Rangers Rob Colley and Bryce Liddell

Together, local indigenous rangers Rob and Bryce have over 40 years experience in conservation and land, ocean and cultural management within Botany Bay and on conservation land owned by the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council. Their job includes patrolling the waters of Botany Bay, marine mammal awareness and protection especially the whale, cultural heritage protection and conservation, threatened species management, cultural and environmental awareness for recreational vessel operators, partnerships, research and visitor experience.
